Basilisk & phoenix - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
A great follow up to the first Harry Potter movie, with plenty of special effects, and introducing Lucius Malfoi, Draco's father.
I would have like to have seen a bit more on how and why House Elves do what they do, and a little more on what the One We Don't Speak was doing as a memory trying to come back, and how the giant snake/basilisk was involved with it all, and why Jenny Weasly, but it was still a fun movie with a lot of adventure.
I particularly enjoy how new mythical creatures are introduced, along with more spells.
"harry potter" sequel tops the original! - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
"Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets" is another succeeding film in the franchise and delivers a lot of excitement! This time, Harry, Ron, Hermione have returned to Hogwarts where they are notified of a deadly force somewhere hidden in the castle. The three young leads are doing what they can to figure out how some students, a house ghost, and the cat of the school caretaker were petrified. As they try to solve the mystery and listen to other people's stories, they wander around restricted areas in the castle and use the potion called "Polyjuice Potion" (which is a disguising potion) to hear Draco Malfoy's side of the story and about his father's past as well. Tons of fun and excitement with loads of great special effects and a lot of heart! Special effects include a house elf named Dobby, a flying car, talking spiders, a battle between Harry and a giant snake, and another Quidditch match! It also includes great actors like Alan Rickman, Richard Harris, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, and of course, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson! Richard Harris died shortly after the movie was released nationwide in theaters and was later replaced by Michael Gambon in the next few movies as Albus Dumbledore. So basically, I love this movie, I would recomend it to anyone and I think it is the best film of the year. In my opinion, there are no negatives for this movie!
Book was worse but movie was good - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was my least favorite of the Rowling series but it transformed into a pretty good movie. If you liked the first movie and are a fan of the Potter series, there's no reason you should be disappointed about the sequel. With Kenneth Branaugh doing a good job as Gilderoy Lockhart, the main new character in book numero dos, and some new action and things to learn, Warner Brothers was able to turn the book into a movie which captured the book enough. I was disappointed they were in the classroom less, but loved the duel scene between Potter and Malfoy. All in all, another great family movie you definitly would want to see if you're a Potter fan.

Better than the first - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Now that I think about it, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone wasn't exactly one of my favoutite movies. It deserves some credit, of course, but the acting wasn't as good as it could have been, and the music made light of the siruations that could have easily been made dark and dreary, which really would have improved the movie. All these problems were improved in Chamber, which is one of my favourite movies of all time. The story was fantastically told in the dark way it should be, and the book was pure genius. The acting was much more believable than in Sorcerer's. Once again, the climax was extremely suspenseful, even though I had read the book. I really loved the visual effects, the snake (I can't remember what it's called, sorry) looks as real as anything. If you might even conceivably not dispise Harry Potter, than go buy this movie on video. That's not a suggestion; that's an order.
A marvelous piece of work - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
To me, this Harry Potter is 20 times better than the first one (which was still amazing). It is a lot scarier and has more great fantasy elements. The story is a lot better than the first, but just as creative, smart and talented. The story gets really scary at some parts and really freaks us out. Other times, it is very smart and very well drawn out. The things the characters say are so witty and smart. Daniel Radcliffe gives another amazing performance. He really pushes the boundaries of Harry Potter and makes the character his own. I also liked Kenneth Branagh's performance. A very funny one indeed and made me laugh at the parts close to the end. The rest of the performances are okay and sometimes are dragged out. The direction from Chris Columbus is amazing. He puts so much thought and focus into all of the scenes which makes it spectacular. The visuals are the best thing in this movie. So creative and imaginative. They really blew me away. This is an amazing ride that you want to take over and over again. I give this movie 4 stars out of 4 and a BIG thumbs up.

Great sequel - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
I thought that after the first great Harry Potter film, the other movies wouldn't be as good. I was wrong. This movie is a great follow-up to the first one. I find the second one the hardest to capture the mood of the story, but they pulled it off. Here, Harry becomes no longer popular and admired when he becomes accused of a crime. The whole story is darker and scarier than the first. All the characters really develop, however Hermione's lines don't give justice to her book character. The special effects are really good too, like Quidditch and the Basilisk, to name a few. It may not seem as "magical" as the first one, but we learn it's just like "muggle" lives; it's not always perfect and merry and there's dark, destructive people. Get ready for Movie 3 to really be blown away!
Even better - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
This is in a class of its own. It out does the first one in nearly every aspect. The entire story was better, and again it follows the book closely, never wandering far astray from its roots.
Satisfactory, and better than the first - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
I like this movie a lot, but mainly because of the book, and because the movie is real long and pretty original. The visual effect was great, but Fawkes was a bit ugly, it should be all glamorous and shaking off gold and red glittering sparks. The acting was satisfactory, the direction is great. Richard Harris excelled himself. And comparing to the first movie, this one is better on the whole and on impression.

D - for dumb humor - Wedding Crashers Reviews
I am simply let down everytime I get talked into going to an american made comedy. Who's rating these comedy movies... post pubescent boys and girls? I guess if you think bare breasted women, stupid cliches' and just plain dumb writing is funny... more power to you. I'll stick to the foreign comedies, until Hollywood can produce something more funny than this type of garbage.

A critic from a youth - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Harry Potter was great. It reflects how magical, and muggle worlds are different. The actors did a great job.Emma Watson ,Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint look like they work pretty well together.I understand that only people from England can be in the movie, but oh well.It was an awesome movie.
Potter for the people!!! - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
When you consider the challenge faced by J.K Rowling in writing the Harry Potter books, and how she overcame several obstacles to write one of the most critically acclaimed children's series yet, it seems illogical to think that it could get any better. If you thought that, shut up. Harry Potter 2 (a.k.a. The Chamber of Secrets) shows us that some things do get better. In this installment, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) returns to Hogwarts (disregarding the warning of a certain house-elf), only to find that something is endangering the students. Then, of course, there's the classic clue-chasing, until, finally, evil falls and good triumphs! (Hey, a two-part series is way too short!) The story is perhaps the best part of the story. The book was simply amazing, so staying true to the story was a sure way to make it better. The acting is a major flaw. Fortunately, the acting doesn't suffer enough to damage the movie severely. The kids need some seasoning, and the adults play no more than cameo roles (due to this, John Cleese stars in what is the least funny performance of his career). The thing that did hurt the movie was the way it was directed. Chris Columbus didn't do a good enough job coaching the kids. Thankfully, this was his last movie. Of course, what would a Harry Potter movie be without computer-generated characters? Thankfully, they shine! When you see the array of characters and other things that are in the movie, you will be in awe, which is just one of the reasons why you should see this movie.
Much better - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
than the first one. Very good, and a little scarier than the first. the actors are getting a little better at their young age, and the light direction is very interesting.

What about the book - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
I kow there is a time limit for a movie and all but the drector just threw the book out of his window. The movie was missing major chunks and the director changed everything. I have read all of the books ate least a hundred times and this is one of my favorites. I was expecting a lot more in this movi and i was diasapointed.
Seriously ... - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
First off, this is a children's movie, and I believe movies should be reviewed for what they are, not for what the viewer wants. All too many of the viewer "pans" of this movie are centered on whether or not they personally like the movie, and not on its merits. A movie may be very well done, yet leave any number of viewers disatisfied, even as others rave. This is the case here. Another error is comparing a movie with a book. The two are different media, and rarely translate back and forth well. It is far better to review the movie in its own right than to burden it with the impossible.
This is a very well crafted movie, based upon a story likely to be regarded as a true classic of literature. The adult actors give flawless, though not Oscar-worthy, performances, and the children do quite well, as they grow into the fine actors they will be. The visuals are superlative. The script/direction/editing may be faulted, in part for pacing, and also for selections and deletions from the book, but still it is a strong performance.
Harry potter rules (again) - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Hi I am truly a Harry Potter Fanatic. I know I am not the only girl out there that loves the books and the movies! I know the movies by heart and I can read the gigantic books in 1-3 days. Some people think the books are 'evil' but story is about a boy that is very lovable and wants to do the right thing. So, think about it, By watching the movie or reading the book you will learn lots of things from a different perspective. That's what makes the movies Oscar-worthy.

Harry potter #2 is a seccess with a hard critic. - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a success. i have read all harry potter books at least 6 times each and this one sounds like it will be my favorite movie. Bieng what you could call a harry potter expert, i know what i am saying and this movie is incredible. although missing some important parts(i.e., Ginny Weasley walking in on her brother Percy when he is kissing his girlfriend Penelope Clearwater)but overall it is a good movie. You can tell that all of the actors have matured and they are more comfortable in front of the camera. Maybe th prisoner of azkaban and goblet of fire will show some more maturity. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson truly make a good team and i can't wait for the rest of the series to come out.
Awsome - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
this movie is good because it has a lot of what
they put in story.i think the person who played harry was much better. overall i think that this was as good as the book
Much better - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Once again, the story is delivered with such accurate attention to detail of the novel and is second only to the almighty Lord of the Rings movies in terms of following a novel. The acting is much improved now that the new actors are much more experienced. The drastic improvement in spcial effects, however, is most staggering. I was especially amazed by the basilisk. Its movements almost reflect those of a real snake. As improved as it is, this movie still comes nowhere close to rivalling the masterwork, Lord of the Rings. Overall, this movie may have scored A+, had LOTR not blown the lid off of my standards for a movie.

Chamber of secrets is the comedy of the series... - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Harry Potter? Funny?? Well, yes littluns it is. You see, the first movie was really very boring as it had to build up all the background for the next movies and the third was action packed and very emotional. The Chamber of Secrets sits somewhere in between, not the original and no deep and meaningful plot. So what does it become? A comedy of course! If you haven't already noticed, Harry Potter and the Chamber is filled with funny scenes and stupid things that really don't make sense. It begins innocently but Harry soon becomes sarcastically rude. For example, when Harry stays at Ron's house (the Burrow)and Mr Weasley asks him a question about muggles Harry simply rolls his eyes and ignores the dear old man. The movie completely loses control after this! Firstly, Harry and Ron smash into the barrier with their trolleys and go flying back through the air. This scene is definitely created for laughs. When they fly to school in the magic car things just start to get stupid. Ron says excitedly gripping the steering wheel: "We must be getting close!" and then the train just about runs them down. This part wasn't in the book and is an insult to the character's intelligence. Why would they be flying so low? Then Harry falls out the door and Ron tells him to hold onto to his hand. Harry replys: "I can't! Your hands all sweaty!" What the hell? What does this have to do with the story? Then they crash into the Womping Willow which is a great scene but comedy none the less. The rest of the movie is filled with lines like: "Why does it have to be follow the spiders? Why can't it be follow the butterflies?" Ha ha, we love Ron. But for what? His loyalty? His bravery? No, for the humour he brings to the movies! One of the funniest scenes is when Harry is reading Riddles diary. He has a lisp or something because after every word he makes a strange sound like he's eating peanut butter. Don't believe me? Turn the volume up and listen for yourself. It's worth it. Overall, I enjoyed this movie. The book was a lot better but that can be expected as all the movies don't quite make the cut. A lot of this movie sucked but the comedy made up for all of that. Well done Chamber of Secrets! You truly are a comedy!!
Sucks - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
bad, bad, bad! It may be classified as family, but it really is bad that kids are seeing these volgar movies. What a shame. So bad so sad.
Second year of hogwarts better than the first - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Welcome back to Hogwarts! I've read the Harry Potter books many many times, and the movies are surprisingly very very good. The "Chamber of Secrets" is even better than the first. There was more depth to it or something. You really begin to see Harry's character develop in the second movie, which will get you hooked for the 3rd movie! The acting is superb. I cannot imagine a better Harry than Daniel Radcliffe. Emma Watson is charming as Hermoine, and Ron steals the show with his great comedic relief. The character of Lockhart brought an additional dimension to the movie's comic storyline. It's a lighthearted movie with a very serious side. Kids will absolutely love it, and people of all ages will enjoy it immensely. There are only a few dark moments in the film, and they do not take away from the genuine lightheartedness of the movie. This a magical adventure that will last for ages!

Well it beats the first - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
This isn't a masterpiece, nor is it a load of garbage. I don't know what it is but its good. First off i just have to say, the kids sound like they just had a bit of helium. There is a bunch of comic relief and funny moments. Chris Comlumbous FINALLY let the movies some slack and strayed away from the book abit. The story is good but it gets tangled up alot from other scenes. This movie can get very confusing and you might be thinking, "What just happened?" or "I don't get it." The visuals were great, except for the ghosts who look very cheap and unrealistic.
This movie's weakest part was giving you the story of an exceptionally large book while not boring you. There are more thrills than the first and its a must-see for Potter fans.
If you've ever muttered Lumos in public or sleep on a Potter pillow, then you have to see this.
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
It was great . Dont listen to the critics reveiws . Emma Waston,Daneil Raddcliffe..... They all acted great. Go see the movie!!!!!
Hooked!!! - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
I read the books over and over and I can't stop watching the movies! I like the first one better than this one but I have also seen this one over 100 times and now I know this word for word and I just can't get enough!

Good but far short of great - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' is probably an overall film but it just didn't have a more widespread view than 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'. I guess the real pleasure of 'Sorcerer's Stone' was seeing all of these things for the first time. In 'Chamber of Secrets', we're already familiar with the cinematic wizard world, so it's less alienating or joyful. However, 'Chamber' had stronger acting and seamless visual effects, something that was hit and miss in the first.
Not as good as the books - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
OK, before I start, I would like to make it clear that I absolutely love the Harry Potter books. They are probably my favorites, or at least right at the top of the list along with To Kill A Mockingbird and Of Mice and Men. Anyway, now that I have made that clear, these movies are such a disappointment. I mean the books are so long, and the movies are long as well, but they cut out so much from the books that it just isn't enjoyable. Whole scenes were cut out, and the movie moves too quickly. The books are also fast-paced, but they take the time to describe, with great detail, people and things. For me, seeing the movies has completely ruined what I always thought of when I read the books. Some characters were similar to what I imagined, but I remember the books saying that Mr. Weasley was tall, thin, balding, and wore glasses. The man who plays him in the movies is average height, stocky, has hair and doesn't wear glasses... would it have really been that hard to put some rims on him at least? All in all, this movie was very disappointing, and I don't think I will be seeing the 3rd, because my two favorite characters are introduced in the 3rd book, and I don't want to see Hollywood's idea of what they look and act like.
Harry potter rox! - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
How can you people give this wonderful movie an F???????? U SUCK!!!!GRRRRR>.......HARRY POTTER IS THE BEST EVER!!!! Kenneth did really well on playing Lockhart. Just remember, the young ones, such as Daniel and Rupert, are just starting to get into acting. ESPEACIALLY Emma!
From book to movie - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is adapted from J.K. Rowling's book by the same title. After both reading the book and watching the movie I greatly appreciate the wonderful job that the screenwriter, director, and others did adapting a complicated story such as "Chamber of Secrets" into a movie of less than 3 hours. Though some important points were left out of the plot, and some unnecesary scenes added, the plot of the movie stays true to the book and is easy enough to follow. The young actors in this film have greatly improved from the first movie "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." For example, the rivalry between the protagonist Harry Potter (played by Daniel Radcliffe) and his archenemy Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) is portrayed much better in "Chamber of Secrets" than the previous film, and is more similar to the way it is described in the book. Acting is not all that has improved from the first movie. I was impressed with the special effects and set design in "Chamber of Secrets." The Chamber of Secrets in particular was very well-done. Overall, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is a stellar adaptation of the book it is based on, and is superior to the first movie in the Harry Potter series.
Spectacular movie.. - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Im a big fan to the Harry Potter books, and this movie really plays by the book and the characters are great perfomed by the actors, exept Daniel Radcliffe, who still is a bit stiff yet better this time. Those who didn't like the movie, probably hasn't read the book and they should. But on the other hand, you don't have to have read the book to understand, it's easy to understand anyway. And Kenneth Branagh absolutely sparks in this role as the smog , ego proffessor Gildenroy Lockhart. This movie is definitly better than the first one. Everybody should see it and read the magic books. Love it. Can't wait for the third movie..it'll probably be even better. Every things about the movie is great, no complaints here..exept that John Cleese role was really minimal..=)
Better than the first! - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
This movie was better than the first! It had lots of action! The best part was when Harry was fightin the giant snake! Since I liked this one and the first I'll probably like the third and you'll probably like it too!!

Another big dissapointment... - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Now, don't get me wrong, the books are great and all, but the movies, they just can't seem to get right. Director Chris Columbus stepped down after this one. Ok, the story is good, not great like the book only because the dialogue was awful, and the acting just didn't cut it. Again, only the casting seemed to amaze me, Kenneth Branagh was absolutely perfect for the role of Gilderoy Lockhart, however, the script still leaves something to be desired. And the ending was just laughable, I mean, come on, they didn;t even say that Gryffindor won the House Cup! Also, leaving out the DeathDay Party, where Harry hears the voices first, and it key to the book, was left out. Columbus just failed in editing, which makes it even worse, not to mention that the Basilisk looks like a Clay model when Harry gets the better of him, which was awful. If they mess up Movie #3, my favorite book, I am odne with the Harry Potter movies. But with a new director, I still have high hopes for Askaban.
Enjoyable - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Much better than the Sorcerer's Stone, though still have rooms to improve. From the beginning with Dobby's warning till the basilisk, I enjoyed most of every minutes of this movie. The casts did their jobs well especially Rupert Grint (Ron). I also like Shirley Henderson (Myrtle) and Alan Rickman (Snape), who, I think, had too little time on screen. The story they adapted from the book is good, though some details were removed. I'd love to see gnomes at the Burrow, but considering the two and a half hour running time, it's reasonable to remove this and many other scenes. The Chamber of Secrets showed a sign that the Harry Potter Saga is going on the right track, though still have rooms to improve, but those are the challenge for casts and crews in the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Great movie...again ;-) - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
The 2nd Harry Potter book is actually my least favourite one of them all (still love it though), but the movie actually made me like it more. The acting has improved, the visuals are just as great as the visuals in the first one & the story is fantastic! There's really not much i can say about the movie except that it's yet again a great movie for everybody. Magical movie just like the first one...even though i like the first one slighty better ;-)
The teen critic - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Being a Harry Potterholic I had to see the movie. Ofcourse they had to cut parts from the story to make it into a children's film but yet they pulled through. It is much better than the first one. I think this had a better quidditch game then the first, and Dobby was just adorable. I loved Moaning Myrtle as well, she was played perfectly! As many will notice, the boys grow up and their voices are maturing which will defiently create pre-teens with crushes on these boys. But Hermione has grown up as well as we see her hair is less bushy and more wavy making her a natural beauty. Many of the older teens (as myself) will be upset of the little Oliver Wood time on the screen. But I suppose Tom Riddle makes up for it. The special effects are just amazing and I literally felt like Hogwarts was real when I left but unfortunetly I had to tell myself it was just fiction.
Amazing for all harry potter fans!!! - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
I personally enjoyed the first movie more than the second one!!! However this movie is one of the best of its own time!!!
Harry potter and the best movie of 2002 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
Genious absolute Genious...That is all I have to say about JK Rowling...Chris Columbus follows directly in her footsteps. He took her masterpiece to the big screen and succeeded be on my wildest dreams. Grint, Radcliffe and Watson have finally gotten into their roles and could not play them better! The visuals are fantasitic and the snake language, Parseltongue, is wonderfully done...I can hardly wait until Goblet of Fire comes to theater...My only request is that Chris Columbus return to direct...Harry Potter is awesome!
