Potter for the people!!! - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Reviews
When you consider the challenge faced by J.K Rowling in writing the Harry Potter books, and how she overcame several obstacles to write one of the most critically acclaimed children's series yet, it seems illogical to think that it could get any better. If you thought that, shut up. Harry Potter 2 (a.k.a. The Chamber of Secrets) shows us that some things do get better. In this installment, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) returns to Hogwarts (disregarding the warning of a certain house-elf), only to find that something is endangering the students. Then, of course, there's the classic clue-chasing, until, finally, evil falls and good triumphs! (Hey, a two-part series is way too short!) The story is perhaps the best part of the story. The book was simply amazing, so staying true to the story was a sure way to make it better. The acting is a major flaw. Fortunately, the acting doesn't suffer enough to damage the movie severely. The kids need some seasoning, and the adults play no more than cameo roles (due to this, John Cleese stars in what is the least funny performance of his career). The thing that did hurt the movie was the way it was directed. Chris Columbus didn't do a good enough job coaching the kids. Thankfully, this was his last movie. Of course, what would a Harry Potter movie be without computer-generated characters? Thankfully, they shine! When you see the array of characters and other things that are in the movie, you will be in awe, which is just one of the reasons why you should see this movie.
